ABOUT CHRISTINE HYDE
CHRISTINE is primarily a contemporary, landscape artist. Her paintings are created en plein air as well as in her cosy studio built on the edge of natural bushland in the heritage listed Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia and overlooks bush, boulders, many native trees and vegetation including eucalypts, banksias and drifts of wild flowers. The studio has a comfy sofa for visitors who are welcome to stay and chat and then walk a few steps to browse her private gallery which has completed framed and unframed signed art as well as signed works on archival quality paper. Christine takes inspiration from the broader Australian landscape environment and will often pitch her easel just outside her bush studio.
A number of paintings in Christine's private Gallery are also displayed on the website Gallery together with images of recently sold paintings which Christine has left on display to indicate the variety of her painting styles across a number of mediums.
If any available paintings interest you or you would like to commission a painting in similar style, please feel free to contact Christine using the online enquiry form for prices and delivery options.
Over recent times Christine has taken inspiration from her immediate natural environment which informs much of her output. But she has memories and sketches made of favourite places she often revisits in France (Paris ‘burbs and the Limousine region) and in the Somerset areas of UK. Christine mainly paints in acrylic, enamels and often in watercolour as an under painting or as a completed work if the subject matter better suits that medium. Her work is contemporary - real and reimagined - her landscape treatments are impressionistic and aim to convey a mood and reflect a sense of time and place.
Only recently Christine decided to more publicly display her work and has successfully participated in a number of exhibitions in public and privately owned Galleries, has won several awards and has also undertaken commissioned works which now hang in private homes in France and Sydney. She is an active member of and also exhibits through the Blue Mountains Artists Network and the Nepean Art Society and the Blackheath Art Society.
Christine now opens her Studio and Gallery to visitors, art lovers and her followers on the first weekend of each month (11:00am - 5:00pm each day) or by appointment, as well as during Blue Mountains Arts Trail events during April and September each year.
